Wichita, KS— Friends University is thrilled to announce a partnership with Kansas Health Science University (KHSU) to offer classes for the Master of Health Care Leadership degree program (MHCL). This degree combines health care-specific business courses with leadership development, preparing students to become administrative leaders in the health care system.
Under this partnership, Friends University will act as the home institution, where students will be fully matriculated and from which will earn their degree. Students will take courses from KHSU, and those credits will be transferred back to Friends University.
The courses taken at KHSU are Health System Sciences I, II, III, and IV, and will be transferred as credits toward the Friends University courses Strategic Planning and Performance Analytics in Healthcare, Contemporary Issues in Aging Services, and Managing Complex Healthcare Systems.
The coursework was developed by leaders in the health care industry and specifically designed to encompass all phases of health care leadership, including acute and long-term care, clinic and hospital management, and home health and hospice agencies.
“Our partnership with Kansas Health Science University–Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine is a game‑changer. It’s not often you see a graduate business program that prepares leaders across acute and long‑term care, clinic and home‑health settings and also puts them in state‑of‑the‑art medical school classrooms, learning side‑by‑side with future doctors,” said Dr. Jim Long, the Friends University Division Chair of Business and Finance. “Sharing that patient‑focused, innovative environment gives our students a firsthand appreciation of the clinical perspective and inspires them to build more compassionate, sustainable health care organizations.”
