Your Step-by-Step Guide to the Friends University Admissions Process
Applying to college shouldn’t feel overwhelming. At Friends University, we’ve streamlined the admissions process to be clear, supportive, and flexible—especially for adult learners, working professionals, and graduate students navigating busy lives. Here’s what you can expect, from your first click to your first class.
1. Choose the Degree Program That’s Right for You
Start by exploring what program fits your goals. Are you looking to finish a degree, start fresh, or advance your career with a graduate program? Maybe you’re not pursuing a full degree yet and just want to take a class or two. Your choice will shape your application steps and financial aid eligibility.
Explore our academic programs to find the right fit. You can also schedule a campus visit to meet with advisors and instructors and see what life at Friends is all about.
2. Complete Your Online Application
Once you’ve found the right path, submit your application. It only takes 10–15 minutes and can be done entirely online. You’ll create a profile, select your student type and intended program, and provide information about your academic and work history.
3. Submit the FAFSA to Explore Financial Aid
Paying for college is a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) helps you access loans, grants, and other financial resources. It’s free to complete, won’t affect your credit score, and doesn’t require you to accept aid.
Be sure to enter Friends University’s school code: 001918.
It typically takes 3–4 business days for your results to reach our Financial Aid team.

4. Send Your Academic Transcripts
Your transcripts give us a complete picture of your academic journey. First-time students should submit high school transcripts or GED scores. If you’ve taken college classes before, request official transcripts from those institutions—even if it’s been a while.
Friends University accepts digital transcripts via services like Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse. If you’re a FriendsFlex undergraduate student, we’ll order them for you—free of charge!
5. Submit Additional Program Materials
Some programs may request extra documents. For example, our MBA program requires a professional résumé and a letter of recommendation. Once you apply, your admissions counselor will let you know exactly what’s needed for your specific program.
6. Receive Your Admission Decision
Once all your documents are in, our team will review your application. If you’re admitted, you’ll receive your next steps: setting up your student account, connecting with your Academic Success Coach, and preparing for course registration.
Congratulations—this is your official first step into the Friends University community!
7. Register for Classes with Your Success Coach
Your Academic Success Coach is your personal guide through your entire education journey. Together, you’ll create a degree plan that fits your goals and lifestyle. Friends offers flexible eight-week courses online, so you can manage your class load around your existing commitments.
8. Set Up Your Payment Plan
After registration, you’ll work with our Student Accounts office to set up a payment arrangement. Options include federal financial aid, employer tuition reimbursement, scholarships, or monthly payment plans. If your employer partners with Friends, you may also qualify for a tuition discount.
Our team—and your Success Coach—are here to help make this step stress-free.
